ENO VALLEY SWIM AND RACQUET CLUB POOL RULES

The safety, health and comfort of all members are the basic objectives of the following rules and regulations. The POOL MANAGER, ASST. MGR., and LIFEGUARDS have authority and jurisdiction over the conduct of any person or persons and any circumstances involving the pool, subject to the approval of the BOARD of DIRECTORS. It is the duty of and responsibility of all members, their children and guests, to adhere to and encourage compliance to these rules. CHILDREN'S CONDUCT IS THE INHERENT RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENTS.

The Pool Manager will welcome your suggestions regarding any phase of pool operations and will refer them to the appropriate committee for consideration and action.

  1. REGISTRATION
    1. All membership fees, annual dues and charges must be paid in full prior to using the club.
    2. All members and guests are required to sign in for each pool visit. Members must fill out a visitor's card for each guest and pay the appropriate fees.
    3. All guests must be accompanied by a member. Guests residing within 50 miles of the club may visit the pool a maximum of 5 times per season and are considered “in town” guests. No “in town” or “out of town” guests will be allowed until the pool is open for full time (June 7, 2012). No “in town” guests are allowed at the pool on weekends or holidays until after the July 4th weekend. Signing in an “in town” guest on weekends, holidays, or bringing guests in violation of pool policy will result in SUSPENSION of family membership for all club facilities for 2 weeks. The fee for “in town guests is $5.00. Families may only bring 5 guests per visit, unless there is a prior approval by the club manager/assistant manager for additional guests. At times of heavy use of the pools facilities and volume of patrons, the club manager/assistant manager has the right to not allow guests at all. Members may bring their out of town guest(s) residing 50 or more miles from the club to the club free of charge for a period no longer than 7 days per season. Former members who live out of town may come to the pool for 14 days. Members under age 18 may only bring 3 guests without written permission from their parents. Members must be age 16 or older with a car to sign in non-members under 16. When the guest leaves, all guests must also leave.
  2. POOL SANITATION
    1. Trash must be put in trash cans.
    2. All persons must take a shower before entering the pools, especially after applying oils.
    3. Parents should encourage children to use the toilet before entering pool.
    4. Children not toilet trained should wear diapers, rubber pants and swimsuit. NO PAMPERS!
    5. Only conventional bathing attire will be allowed at the pool.
    6. Persons with infections, abrasions, colds, coughs, or bandages may be denied pool use.
    7. No smoking within 5 feet of any sheltered area, in buildings, or around the edge of pool.
    8. No eating or drinking on pool deck except water. Food and drink must be under shelter.
    9. No pets allowed in the pool area or anywhere on the club grounds.
    10. Persons using the club facilities are responsible for its cleanliness.
    11. No chewing gum is allowed in the pool.
    12. Durham County Health Deptartment rules shall govern the health and safety of the pool.
  3. POOL SAFETY
    1. SWIMMING POOL
      1. Running, pushing, wrestling, dunking and horseplay will not be allowed.
      2. The pool staff may require children to demonstrate swimming ability in some areas.
      3. Children who are "non-swimmers" and/or under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent or person 16 years of age or older at all times.
      4. Approved life jackets and water wings may be worn in the shallow end of the pool. They may also be worn beyond the 2-foot area if supervised by an adult. No balls, inner tubes or other toys are allowed except soft Nerf balls.
      5. Everyone must leave the pool in the event of an emergency. The signal is 3 whistles.
      6. At the discretion of the lifeguard, a 15 minute adult swim (16+) may be called each hour.
      7. A "non-swimmer" must not be in water over chest deep unless accompanied by an adult.
      8. NEVER DIVE IN SHALLOW WATER!! PARENTS MUST DISCUSS WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND GUESTS WHERE THEY ARE TO DIVE... (5 FEET OF WATER!!) NO HANDSTANDS, CARTWHEELS OR OTHER UNSAFE DIVES ARE ALLOWED!!
      9. No sliding backwards on the slide. Slider must face the water and not slide on other swimmers. Only one person may be on the slide at a time.
    2. WADING POOL
      1. The wadding pool is designed for children 5 years old and under.
      2. Lifeguards are not assigned to the wading pool. Each child's safety and behavior is the full responsibility of the child's parents. NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO PLAY WITH THE DRAINS!!!
      3. Children who are not toilet trained must wear diapers, rubber pants and swimsuits.
    3. DIVING AREA
      1. Under no circumstances are "non-swimmers" allowed in the diving area.
      2. Only one person is permitted on the diving boards at a time.
      3. No hanging from boards or water spouts.
      4. No diving or jumping from the sides of the diving boards.
      5. No free swimming in the diving areas when diving boards are in use.
      6. No handstands, cartwheels, or other unsafe dives off the boards.
      7. Divers must swim quickly to the closest side of the pool after dives.
      8. Only one bounce is allowed on the boards.
    4. GENERAL SAFETY
      1. At no time shall there be any use of the pool except when completely supervised by lifeguards or when authorized by the Board of Directors.
      2. ALL MEMBERS, THEIR CHILDREN AND ALL GUESTS USE THE FACILITIES AT THEIR OWN RISK!!!
      3. No glass or metal containers of any kind are allowed in the pool or bathing areas at any time.
      4. No unauthorized persons will be allowed in the shack, filter room or chemical room at any time.
      5. All injuries must be reported immediately to the management.
      6. No unnecessary talking to the lifeguards.
      7. No intoxicants are allowed in the pool area except when the deck area is used for an adult function and the pool is closed to swimming.
      8. The pool management must be informed of specific health problems or physical disability of any member which might jeopardize safety, so that the staff may property handle all situations.
      9. There must be at least a 15-minute wait after close lightning before swimming, tennis, and other activities can begin again. Lifeguards will whistle an all-clear signal.
  4. GENERAL CLUB RULES
    1. The manager or lifeguards on duty will have the authority to close the pool in bad weather.
    2. The pool hours are: (Sun. & Mon. – 1:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (Tues.-Sat. – 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM) Guards will clear the pool at least 10 minutes prior to closing so members can be out of the pool fence by 8:30 PM.
    3. Scheduling of the large pool for instruction, swim practice, or swim meets will be posted.
    4. Boisterousness, abusive, vulgar or objectionable language, running or other conduct on the club property that could be injurious to one or others is prohibited at all times.
    5. The telephone is not to be used for social conversations and is limited to 3-minute local calls.
    6. Cost of property damage due to negligence will be charged to the responsible person.
    7. The club will not be responsible for loss of, or damage to, personal property.
    8. No parking on the grass. All vehicles, including bicycles, must be parked in prescribed areas. Grill area parking is permitted only for those signed up.
    9. Motorists must drive slowly and carefully on club property–not exceeding 5 mph.
    10. In order to promote friendly neighborhood relations, members and guests will refrain from speeding, trespassing or any other annoyances that might disturb close property owners.
    11. Skateboards, bicycles, or other similar things are not allowed, especially on walks.
    12. Wine and/or liquor are not allowed at Eno Valley Swim and Racquet Club.
    13. You must be age 16 or older to use the Clubhouse without parental supervision.
    14. Children under the age of 3 should not be left unattended outside the pool fence.
    15. There is no guest fee for children under age 2.
    16. It shall be the duty of the pool manager, assisted by the lifeguards, to take necessary measures to enforce all rules.
    17. Guests who violate club rules may be suspended at least 30 days from visitation privileges. Flagrant, rude or serious violations will result in longer suspensions.
    18. Any exceptions to the rules must be approved by the board of directors.
  5. POOL PARTIES
    1. Two parties can be scheduled per day.
    2. The regular guest policies apply. All guests must pay whether they swim or not.
    3. There is a maximum of 25 guests per party. Parents must supervise all parties and review pool rules with all guests.
    4. Members must notify the management at least one week in advance to schedule a party.
    5. Parties must be held on the picnic tables outside the pool.
    6. Members must fill out guest cards on each guest and pay as they arrive.
    7. Members must clean the picnic table area before leaving.
  6. BABY SITTERS
    1. Members may request in writing that their children be kept at the pool during both parents working hours Monday through Friday. Parents must provide their employer's name, work hours and work phone numbers.
    2. A fee of $25.00 must be paid with the written request and may cover only one sitter with the name, address, phone number and age of the sitter provided in the letter.
    3. The $25.00 fee is non-refundable.
    4. The sitter must be at least 16 years of age, have a vehicle at the pool, and be responsible for the total supervision of the member's children. The sitter should have written authority to make medical decisions in case of an emergency.
    5. The sitter must be signed in by the member as a "sitter" for each pool visit and may not leave or come to the pool without the member's children.
    6. Members who baby sit non-members at the pool must observe the 5 visit limit for "in-town" guests and pay the $2.00 guest fee per child.
  7. HARDSHIP GUEST PROCEDURES
    1. Persons living in a member's house for 14 straight days or more may apply for special consideration to the Board of Directors. The member must state the nature of the hardship and fill out a "hardship guest form" at the shack at least 2 days prior to the visit.
    2. Keeping a child in your home because of the death or hospitalization of a guardian will be given special consideration for weekend "in-town" guest visitation by filling out a hardship form at the shack. "In-town" guests must pay the guest fee for each visit. WEEKEND "IN-TOWN" GUEST VISITATION IS PERMITTED DURING AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
  8. "DROP-OFF" SIGN-IN POLICY
    An adult who wishes to "drop-off" a child who is between the ages 10 to 15 must accompany and "sign-in" that child at the shack. The adult must leave an emergency phone number where the adult can be reached the entire time that the child is at the pool. In addition, the parents must have a signed waiver of liability on file at the shack for the pool season. In the event that a parent/guardian cannot be reached at the emergency number provided, a warning will be issued. In the event of a second occurrence, the family membership will be suspended for two weeks. Parents, please remember that when you drop off children it is important that you monitor weather conditions such as severe thunderstorms or tornado warnings in case the pool has to close. The pool can be a dangerous place during storms. Calling parents to pick-up their children can be a long process.
